Curriculum aims
The overall aims of the English Language Education curriculum are:
- To provide students with learning experiences to increase their language proficiency for study, work, leisure and personal enrichment;
- To develop their knowledge, skills, values and attitudes; and
- To promote life-long learning so as to enhance their personal and intellectual development, cultural understanding and global competitiveness.

Life-wide Learning

External Collaborations
The English Department has been committed to professional development to keep abreast of the latest developments in English teaching and pedagogy.
Public examination marking
Teachers have been serving as markers in public examinations including TSA, DSE and SBA for different papers, after which experiences would be shared among the panels.
External Professional Development training
Teachers also actively participated in PD training outside scH视频ol. Across the department, PD training has been in diverse foci ranging from pedagogies (LAC, Assessment, Curriculum design, English teaching and learning & National Security Education), examination matters (TSA, DSE, IELTS & SBA), education psycH视频logy (SEN & counseling) and scH视频ol administration (CLP & Discipline). After the training, teachers have been invited to share their findings in panel meetings or KLA meetings to enhance professional exchange within the department.
Since 2021, the department has been invited as guest speaker in interscH视频ol sharing on the scH视频ol LAC implementation to stay connected with the wider education community.
